Willow is an important source of pollen for the bees in early spring. They need a lot of pollen at this time of year, as the queen begins to build up the colony again ready for summer. Pollen provides protein and is baby food for bees, so lots of pollen means lots of new bees!
Willow bees came to us from a local beekeeper from Conwy. They had been keeping bees for a few years, but after three terrible seasons the beekeeper had had enough, and decided to re-home their bees. We were happy to take them off their hands. They’re now doing well at their new home in Llanrwst.
